Liga Española - FC Barcelona: ¿Sergiño Dest merece la oportunidad de quedarse en el Barcelona de Xavi? | MARCA Claro Usa

After Dani Alves, Barcelona's right back received a red card during the game,  Sergiño Dest was brought into play. Dest was trying to prove himself to not only the team but manager Xavi that he was able to step up to the plate. Dest was able to perform well and contain the right side on defense for the remainder of match.

Barcelona was able to win the match and earn Xavi his most impressive match since he took over the managerial job. Since Alves is out for the next match and Roberto is still recovering slowly from his injury, Dest may be the clear man for the job for right back in the upcoming match against Espanyol next Sunday.

There were rumors arising that Dest might leave the FC Barcelona team but he has always wanted to prove Xavi wrong and right now is the perfect time to do that in the upcoming match. With Dest's speed and agility he is able to make connections in the back allowing the team to be dominant on the attacking third.

  1. I really enjoyed ready this article. I am not very familiar with todays news in soccer, and especially with FC Barcelona, even though they are the team I should follow. Sergino Dest seems like a very important player to Barcelonas success. After watching El Classico, I am starting to stay up to date and in tune as to what Barcelonas team is planning on doing with their rotation.

  2. With recent struggles for Barcelona, they are turning towards the transfer market and their young home grown players. Pedri, Gavi, and De Jong are looking like the world's best in the future. Sergio Roberto is injured at the moment and when he comes back, I don't think Barcelona will have room for the American Dest.

  3. I really enjoyed reading this article. Before coming to Barcelona I had no idea who Sergio Dest, and I would've never guessed that he'd be from America. After watching him play for a couple of minutes against Napoli, about a month or so, I finally was able to see the true talent in Dest. I believe that if USNT makes the World Cup this year, the world will finally get to see the duo of Dest and Pulisic, and would finally apply some respect to the USNT. I truly believe that we are the true underdogs when it comes to soccer, and this World Cup we will have our best finish yet.

  4. Much like Brian and Sammy, before I came abroad, I have never been in the know in terms of having a strong grasp on European football news, but have since gotten very much into it. Sergiño Dest is a player who I have briefly read about in the past, and his performance this season has been interesting to watch. Although this blog was published in the beginning of February, he is a player who should be watched in the future. If the prospect of him leaving Barca were to come up again, I feel that with some more time on the field--in less of a competitive environment--he has real potential to do great things throughout his career.

  5. I believe that Dest has what it takes to be a high level player for Barcelona. He has the tools for it he just needs to start performing at the level he wants to do. I am not sure how his future in Barcelona looks but he will need to step his game up in order to play out here in Europe.
